AT HOME COLOUR CARE TIPS FROM Monique Mcmahon

Written By Billie Reed 29 Apr 2020

Monique chats home care tips with us for the blog. Read closely friends! These gems will keep your colour looking as fresh as the day you walked out of the salon.

"Nothing feels as good as salon fresh colour. Keep your colour bright with a quality, custom hair care routine that treats your hair type. My top picks for blondes would be Christophe Robin’s Cleansing mask with lemon gently cleanse and reset your blonde every wash. His shade variation care in baby blonde is an incredible violet mask treatment that uses natural iris flower extract to keep brassiness at bay so your colour shimmers all week long."

"Don’t let isolation stop you from having great hair. There’s no beautiful colour without healthy hair.” Monique adds.

"The main enemies of colour are silicone and detergent based shampoos. These will wash that colour clean off your hair. Look to nourishing, quality products created to care for your particular hair type. First step for home care is to ask your hair colourist what they recommend for you. If you’ve got blonde or highly coloured hair, look to products which deeply nourish the hair fibre, and safe guard colour like Christophe’s moisturising hair oil with lavender applied as pre-treatment that you can leave in overnight before rinsing with his cleansing mask with lemon which gently exfoliates the scalp, creates elasticity and shine as dry and bleached hair needs extra nutrition."

"Coloured hair - as opposed to bleached or highlighted - is less sensitive, but it needs a mild shampoo with more acidic pH to lock the permanent colour into the hair fibre (try Christophe Robin’s new Colour Shield shampoo which dials up the power of natural Camu-camu for a shot of Vit-C to nourish and seal in colour)  Finish with a deep rich mask. My go-to is the Regenerating mask with prickly pear seed oil, a rare gem of an ingredient that penetrates the hair cuticle and works like an anti-aging treatment.”
